Effective date: July 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Mental Health and Climate Change Alliance ("MHCCA", "we", "us") handles information in connection with this website, including the Understanding Climate Emotions course, curriculum, and glossary (together, the "Site"). We designed the Site to collect as little information about you as possible. Using the Site requires no account, registration, or submission of personal information.
1. Information we do not collect
The Site has no user accounts, sign-up forms, or comment features. We do not run our own analytics or advertising on the Site, we do not set our own cookies, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
2. Information stored on your device
The course and curriculum remember your progress (for example, which modules you have completed and quiz results) using your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us, and we cannot see it. If you complete the course, the certificate is generated entirely in your browser using the name you type, which is likewise not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes this stored information; doing so will also reset your course progress.
3. Hosting and server logs
The Site is served by a third-party hosting provider. Like most web hosts, the provider automatically processes standard technical information needed to deliver pages and keep the service secure, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This information is handled under the hosting provider's own privacy practices and retention schedules; we do not use it to identify visitors.
4. Third-party content
Some elements of the Site are loaded from third-party servers: web fonts from Google Fonts, photographs served by Pexels' content delivery network, and certain scripts from public content delivery networks. When your browser requests these files, the third party receives the technical information that accompanies any web request, including your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy. If you prefer not to share this information, you can use browser settings or extensions that block third-party requests; the text of the Site will remain readable.
5. Links to other websites
The Site links to many external resources, including research articles, videos, and the websites of other organizations. This policy applies only to this Site. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any website you visit through our links.
6. Email
If you contact us by email, we will receive the information you choose to send, and we will use it to respond to you. Please do not include sensitive personal information in an email.
7. Children
The Site is an educational resource intended for adults and professional learners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to team@mhcca.ca.
